Individual and Family Services

I offer an initial meeting or telephone discussion to gather information and meet the individual and their family to determine if my service can offer what they require.  The services I could offer to individuals and their families include:

• Carrying out an in-depth assessment to determine the impact of a young person’s/adult’s autism in terms of their capacity to access their learning, work and social environments.

• Individualised support for challenges within the home setting.  I would work with the young person and family members to develop interventions that are meaningful and relevant and that can be delivered within the home setting.

• Designing interventions to address difficulties arising from, for example, different thinking styles, lack of understanding of what autism means to them, physically and verbally challenging behaviours, including isolation, and implementing these within the family home to enable others to take ownership of the strategies.

• Planning and developing goal focused interventions to target the acquisition and development of specific skills such as self management strategies.

• Delivering Cognitive Behaviour Therapy sessions to individuals and coaching them on how to implement the strategies in ‘the heat of the moment’ situations to manage anxiety and/or anger.
